    CREEL

    Driving:
You can drive all the way from the US - most people enter at the El Paso/Juarez border, and then take highway 45 to Chihuahua (approx. 4 hour drive). From Chihuahua take highway 16 which passes through Cuahtemoc (Chihuahua to Cuahtemoc approx. 1 hour 15 minutes) - from Cuahtemoc the road narrows although there are plans to make this a 4-lane highway to La Junta - and from La Junta on to Creel turning off at San Pedro and passing through San Juanito. (Chihuahua to Creel approx. 4 hours)

It is possible to drive from the west coast through Hermosillo or Cuidad Obregon but this is a very long, windy drive - most people prefer to leave their vehicles in Los Mochis and take the train to Creel.
Note: Chihuahua City and Cuahtemoc are both ideal places to break your journey.

    Bus:
First class buses (comfortable with video and toilet) run hourly from Ciudad Juarez (border to El Paso) to Chihuahua City - time approx. 5 1/2 hours - and from there second class buses to Creel run every 2 hours between 6am and 6pm - time approx. 5 hours.
If coming from the west coast it is possible by bus via either Hermosillo or Cuidad Obregon but it is a long strenous journey and much more enjoyable by train from Los Mochis.

    Train:
The Chihuahua al Pacifico railroad offers the most stunningly beautiful train experience.

The second class train does not run at all on Sundays.

Please note that although the train may depart on time they usually arrive at your destination late!!

    Air:
It is possible to fly direct to Chihuahua from Mexico City, Dallas and El Paso and then take a bus or train to Creel.
It is possible to fly direct to Los Mochis from Mexico City, Phoenix and Los Angeles then take the train to Creel.

    BASASEACHI

If driving from Chihuahua you need to follow highway 16 but instead of turning off for Creel at San Pedro follow the road signs for Hermosillo for another 2 hours or so where you will see signs for the waterfall.
If driving from Creel, take highway 16 as far as San Juanito - on entering this town there are signs that take you to Basaseachi by dirt road (only high clearance vehicle).

    DIVISADERO

The road is now paved all the way to Divisadero and is easy, scenic drive taking about an hour from Creel.
You can also take the train from Creel taking between about 1 1/2 hours. Or you can take a tour from your hotel in Creel or from the tour office in the plaza.

    BATOPILAS

If driving to these destinations please note that the road is only paved halfway to La Casita (the turn-off to Guachochi and Batopilas). After this it is dirt road all the way - you really need a four wheel drive to ensure your safe arrival especially in the rainy season.

    By bus:
There is a bus that leaves Creel from outside hotel Los Pinos for La Bufa and Batopilas on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, taking about seven hours to reach Batopilas. Time of departure 7.00am with breakfast stop in Basihuare about 2 hours down the road.
The bus comes back to Creel Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays leaving from the plaza in Batopilas at 5.00am.
This bus does not run on Sundays.
There is a van that runs to and from Batopilas on alternate days to the bus (departs from hotel Los Pinos in Creel and the plaza in Batopilas).
Also does not run on Sundays.

    CEROCAHUI AND URIQUE

Driving to Cerocauhi or Urique is very rough, although now paved to Divisadero - it is easier and quicker to take the train and then the bus. However, it is possible to drive if you have a good four wheel drive vehicle.

    By train and bus:
You need to take the train to the town of Bauichivo - arriving from Los Mochis around 11.30am and arriving from Chihuahua/Creel at around 2.30pm. There is a bus that leaves for these towns after both first class trains have arrived. It is a 40 minute drive to Cerocauhi and Urique is another 2 1/2 hours down the road. This bus will also take you back to Bauichivo in time to catch either of the first class trains leaving Urique at 8.00am.
Please note that those of you wishing to stay at Cerocauhi’s Paraiso del Oso hotel need to ask the driver to drop you off there - it is situated on the road before Cerocauhi.
